This training is designed to inform law enforcement professionals about the current threat of transnational organized crime (TOC), specifically as it pertains to the state of TN. The training will go over what TOC is, who are the Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) in TN, and the impact of the Foreign Terrorist Designation on TCOs.
Emily Knight serves as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst assigned to the Fugitives, Gangs, and Criminal Case Support section of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Intelligence Unit located inside of the Tennessee Fusion Center, bringing four years of professional service to the team.
Emily began her career in the private sector in 2022 as a Global Security & Intelligence Analyst supporting pharmaceutical clients in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In this role, she was responsible for intelligence monitoring, threat assessment, and global security reporting, establishing her foundation in intelligence analysis and corporate risk management.
Prior to joining the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Emily spent two years in the private sector before transitioning to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, where she served as a Case Coordinator in Legal Resources. In this capacity, she specialized in case support and administrative coordination for criminal proceedings, contributing directly to departmental workflow and investigative efficiency. At TBI, Ms. Knight focuses on Transnational Organized Crime, Gangs, and Strategic Intelligence. She is also a member of the Criminal Intelligence Unit’s after‑hours emergency response team inside the Tennessee Fusion Center.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Spanish from Westfield State University and a Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security – Counterterrorism from Pennsylvania State University. Committed to technical excellence, she has also completed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Basic Intelligence and Threat Analysis Course, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's Instructor Development Course, and the Tennessee Gang Investigators Association Basic Gang Specialist Course.
